Looking for a bit of advice. Trying to decide between the new AVET 80's or the 50 T-RX for standup on a short bent butt.

Depends on line capactiy that you are looking for. The T-RX has more drag but less capacity. Both are great reels and will have adequate drags for most of your fishing needs.

The 80 has the line capacity which is not much of an issue if you were to use spectra backing. I prefer a 50 size reel for stand-up fishing as it weighs less and is easier to handle. Avet and Accurate both make top-less 50's that are really nice for stand-up fishing because youm can add extra drag with you left hand by cupping the spool.

AVET 50SDS is an awesome reel, we have 620yards of 80 on them, using 400 of JB and topshot of momoi 80. The open face is the way to go for stand up fishing.

You should try the ATD 50 Topless. Makes the Avet look like a toy.
