Anybody know of one that really works.
Using a food saver. Double sealed everything. Just pulled a steak out of the freezer with no vacuum and freezer burn.![]()

Been using a food saver for around 5 years now without too many problems. Loose something every once in a while to a puncture in the bag from a bone or shuffle in the freezer when I can't decide what I want.
Generally, you need to make the area you're going to bag edge is dry and positioned properly in the sealer. Mkae sure you let the sealer finish its work before moving the bag - let the lid pop up. I check the seal right after I'm done before they go into the freezer.
The other thing that really matters is keeping the freezer at 0 degrees.
I opened up a bag of big eye steaks last night from the '07 season and they were fine.
If I had the cash I'd certainly consider on of these though....

We have been using the el cheapo wal mart version and it has worked very well for us. Just gotta make certain you get the seal the first time or it's a lightes out gig. If you pat the fillets or steaks down or better yet get em semi hard then they vacu u seal with no problemo
If they get as juicy as a two day old hooski well its![]()
I guess they make some super la gara models (Marty do you remeber the super lagara cams?) these days but when old faithfull gives it up we'll oprobably just duplicate this five year version again.
Gees Zyg that thing will suck start a Harley

Been there done that. Everything dry, check position, wait for the light to go out, Seal twice, still blows up to much good stuff. Do not want freezer burn on tuna or mako filets. I see your link, gonna go check it out.
For what it's gonna cost to go out and catch these critters this year I want them to stay fresh till I get to eatin em.

I have been using a food saver for years now. The problem, from what I've heard, is that some of the models, even the high end models, don't work as good as others. The model that's $140 or so, has worked flawlessly, never had a bag loose it's seal, and I have used it a lot.
This is the one I have, hopefully you can figure out what's up with yours, cause when they work right vacuum sealers suck, I mean, they don't, but, you know.![]()
Yo Zyg, Maybe after we win the shark tourny I'll get me one of those.![]()
