    Oyster Stew

There are not many culinary delights easier to prepare, but there are a few tricks in making really kick ass Oyster Stew:
a 12 oz jar of Oysters is a tease--- use two 12 oz jars.

leave the milk for cereal, use Half & half

don't even think about putting margerine in this--- unsalted pure butter only

Green Onion and Pimintoes--- yes, Pimintoes. I hate them in anything else, but they add well to the overall flavor. Lots of Green onions- use the entire stalk

Soften green onions first with a little butter and saute for a couple minutes

put all of the Oyster liquor (juice) in the pot.

After you add the oysters, liquor and Half&half you will notive a thin layer of scum to form on top as it begins to heat up. Simply skim off as much as you can. Now add 1/2 stick of butter

lots of fresh ground black pepper

never allow to boil, simmer for an hour or so. the longer it simmers, the better the flavors blend together. When ready, the oysters will be curled and 1/2 to 1/3 there original size.

    Glenn -

Now you're talkin' brother.......we must have learned that recipe from the same part of the world.......the ONLY thing I might change....is that fresh oysters are a REAL treat in that dish and I use a dash of Tabasco and Old Bay....and I do mean "just a dash"....damn you made me hungry and I just had lunch!

Glenn- Oyster Stew is one of my favorites!! We usually use canned milk or half and half and definately Real Butter!!

We have tried some cut up potato's and hard boiled eggs too! (kinda makes it like potato soup with oysters)
Old bay goes on just about everything! (my son has to have it on pizza and pop corn)

I'll have to try it with your other ingredients- Thanks!!
