Ok, I'm on this thought plain lately of how the early american indians and our ancestors needed to eat to survive and try different things.
Fact is times are tough for a lot of us out there and funds can be difficult to just grab a pizza. Prices at the pump and the grocery store have sky rocketed. So I am going to try to do some recipes for things we don't see everyday or have never thought of eating before.
Ever since I've been a kid we would find and dig for Sand fleas or mole crabs as they are called also, never thought of eating them but I came across a thread from way back on here and decided I would make them and video the experiance. Please remember I'm still learning my Droid and my video skills on it are not the best and I can't figure out how to edit once its been sent to you tube. So I am a work in progress.
One thing I will say I'm a damn good chef and sharing food adventures is something I love.
PLEASE NOTE, They came out a tad salty and its probably from being in the saltwater, so if you know of a cajun spice thats less salty I'd suggest using it
The Most Important thing to do is make sure they are cleaned well.
Remove the bottom flap and squeeze the crab to clean out the digestive tract, also you can spray them to dislodge any more sand.
Dust in your dredge
Drop in your hot frying grease and once they float they are done, about 15 seconds
Squeeze fresh Lime and Red Chili sauce and they are really Good A cross between a Crawdad and a shrimp
Dude, that's friggin tog bait. I used to dig them when I was a kid and get pretty good money. I even ate them raw on a dare. They suck unless you purge them and then fry the Bejeezuz out of them.
