No big surprise that a guy from NY is calling a southern meal by its wrong name is it?? Anyway, we do this about 4 or 5 times a summer. We love it. Only problem, crabs are NEVER in season here so we throw a couple of lobsters in, just because. Also, we use clams as well. We steam it in 2 cans of beer and a turkey fryer works pretty well as long as you fashion a way of keeping the pot off the bottom. Mike |

No problem with being from NY...lots of good food comes from up there (love the bagels a friend of mine brings back a couple of times a year)!
I have a few friends who like to add beer to the mix. I don't since the beer flavor seems to be masked by the Old Bay. The beauty of the recipe is that you can add anything you want to it! |

I moved out of the city some time ago, but what I miss most? Bread! I mean any kind of bread, hard rolls, sub bread (we called them wedges) up here in upstate everything is made out of a freakin hot dog roll.
I guess you don't want to get me started about what I miss most! Love that LCB though. Our favorite summertime feast. You should see us yankees flopping the pot of stuff on the table covered in newspaper and going to town...... Mike |

Yeah man... that's the way to do it.
We're doing the same thing Saturday night. Right now I've got Shrimp, Clams, Crawdads, Crabs, Puppy Drum and Smoked Sausage ready to go in it... any recommended additions????

Yeah man... got the corn/red potatoes and a couple BIG Vadalia Onions. What do y'all spice it with? I'm thinking some old bay, pickeling spices, dry mustard, celery seed.

Don't forget to throw in some sweet corn you stole, and a few nice italian sausages (natural casing perferreed) on top of the mix.

Old Bay is the seasoning. Corn is a must!

Da'Boil was incredible! Clams, Crabs, Shrimp, Sausage, Corn, Baby Reds, and some Puppy Drum added at the end. Laughed like hell at my sister-in-law trying to eat it with a fork and knife (never did like her too much).
