    Horseradish Vodka

I was enjoying a well made bloody mary a few weekends back and noticed the horseradish floating around in it. It got me thinking to the plant growing in the backyard that is a descendant of my Polish Great-Grandfather's plant. I went out and noticed that it has spread around the otherwise fallow garden and decided it was time to prepare some root for oyster season.

I dug, cleaned and peeled the root, then placed the buds, or tops into a pot to share with a few friends' gardens.

I took about a 3" piece of peeled root and cut it up in small enough pieces to fit in a 750 Ml. I did two brands, Stoli and Sobieski. The later is about half the price of the stoli and at first taste is better. They'd been soaking for about 24hrs and at the first tasting they wowed my taste buds enough to start dreaming of some thanksgiving bloody's and oyster shooters.

I'll be giving thanks to my polish roots tomorrow.....Litterally.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all.

    Na zdrowie.

Last time I checked, the really good Vodkas are made from roots (or tubers) anyway - pretty logical fit.

Add a bit of Clamato, tabasco, a celery stick and some lime and you are off to the races.

    Happy Thanksgiving Dave
