Grand Marnier Bread Pudding
This one is for Nimrod
It doesn't get much better than this:
1 loaf Itailian bread (or 2 French)-- cut off crust and cube
6 eggs
1 1/4 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 cup Grand Marnier
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cinnimon
1/4 tsp oranage extract (optional)
a little bit of English walnuts ( not too many)
Soften butter in micro wave
Beat eggs, add milk, sugar & butter and warm in sauce pan (not even close to hot or the egss will start to set-- just want to get the sugar disolved)
Add spices
Add Grand Marnier--- ah hell, give her another 1/4 cup or so
Butter a deep baking dish
add cubed bread and walnuts
Pour liquid mixture over bread and let set about 10 minutes before putting in oven
Cover with alum. foil and bake at 350 for 50 min.
uncover and bake another 15 - 20 minutes or so
While this is cooking, slice some fresh peaches (not canned)
let soak in Grand Marnier while pudding is baking ( put in fridge)
Right before serving, drain Grand Marnier from peaches and reduce in small sauce pan.
Add peach slices on top of Bread pudding and pour Grand Marnier reduction over the whole thing
