    Ginger Salad Dressing (restaurant style)

    1/2 cup minced onion
    1/2 Peanut oil
    1/3 cup rice vinegar
    2 Tablespoons water
    2 Tablespoons minced fresh ginger
    2 Tablespoons minced celery
    2 Tablespoons ketchup
    2 teaspoons soy sauce
    2 teaspoons sugar
    2 teaspoons lemon juice
    1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon black pepper

combine all ingredients in blender. Blend on high speed until all the ginger is pureed; Chill and serve over iceburg lettuce.

*I like to use just a bit less onion in my recipe.

I know what you mean... I did that for a long time, I really liked the dressing I always got on my salad where I get sushi .I would buy bottled ginger dressing trying to find one that would taste like theirs. I got tired of trying to find one that was worth eating.
So I got this recipe, it is really good.

I got all the stuff to make it except peanut oil. Do you think I could substitute olive oil? Also have you tried adding sesame to it?

Several years ago in Costa Rica I ate at a little place that had a dish with sticky rice in bottom of bowl followed by a layer of fresh spinach slightly steamed then small strips of rare tuna. It had a dressing the waitress called an asian/sesame/ginger. The closest taste to it without the asian heat is Ken's sesame ginger which the resturants can get but it doesn't taste like the crap you buy in the store.

I have not added sesame to the dressing because I roll my sushi in toasted sesame seeds. I like to eat my salad with my sushi while drinking some extra hot green tea.... yummmy...

BUT!!!.. sesame oil works really good ... I have not tried it with olive oil, I would think it would work as long as the oil does not have a strong flavor. Sometimes olive oil can over power dishes, especially if it has time to sit.

    Okay Diane,

I tried it last nite and substituted olive oil for peanut oil. I added a tad bit of asian sesame oil(tsp) to give it a little kick. I liked it but I may have to cut back a little on the ginger. Thanks for the recipie
