    Bill, there used to be a Brazilian Bar in Georgetown (Para---something)) that sold this sneaky little spirit. We used to go there alot in the College days and it must have been what the girls liked so much--- I remember a sweet lemon drink they would all get trashed on.

    I learned to drink that stuff in DC also. There was a bar just outside of Georgetown called Brasil Tropical (I think). I am talking about when I was in college around 1988. The drink isn't the same unless you get your hands on the cachasa. There are a ton of brazilian stores and restaurant bars here in Pompano Beach, FL. I am sure you could get the stuff here. It can't be that tough.

    BTW, Caipirinhas can peel the paint off a car! I had many, many a blurry night courtesy of those bad boys. Thanks for the memories.

    Jer you are the man! There was this drink a girl gave me once back when i was in college. she was brazilian and we were at a bar in Newark NJ which is a big brazilian area.

    Well i forgot the name of the drink and the girl

    It was great though (the drink and the girl )

    you guys crack me up!!!.....may be instead of the vodka you could use RUM...is a sugar cane distillate and should not be far from the cachaca!

    I began drinking this delicious concoction in Germany...It's best with 1 lime quartered and smashed with brown sugar. You should be able to find the cachaca brand name "Pitu" in just about every liquor store. I can't wait until summer to drink some more of those.

    We have Pitu cachaca at our local liquore stores. I have tried mixing it with different things and never turned out good. Next time I decide to try it again I will make this drink and maybe leave a better impression!

    i love these things, the bar tender at sunset know how to make them. but they are better with cachaca. i just found a bottle of santa rosa.

    Hey Jer you forgot to frost the rim of the glass with sugar.
    "Pinga" phonetic spelling ask at any good liqueur store they should have it, Pinga is quite an oily drink also works well with good old Bacardi, crush the ice and lime together with lots of sugar, pour a good size triple into the mix, enjoy Thinking about it just about any good overproof rum works well one that springs to mind is Wray and Nephew 70% though the 45% works a little slower
