I read something about that the other day and the local store who has consistent seafood couldnt tell me whether or not they were dry. How about sending me a PM with what the price per pound would be to have them shipped. Also can they be frozen once I get them?

brian if they can not tell you then try are probly floated a dry scallop is going to be some where in the area of 12$ a lb right now floated scallops are about 7 maybe less depending on area you can freeze them we buy alot at a time if we can get a good price on them the way we freeze them is to make sure they are out of water and air sealed you'll never know they were frozen let them thawl out slowly

sufergirl these bad boys need no spice other then the old bay on them already i don't see why not but its not needed

John, thanks for the recipe. I ate more than my share of these last weekend at WAHOONBOX's house and words can not do them justice...uh-oh, I just slobbered on my keyboard.

I was just telling my wife how good they were and I did not know there was a difference between wet and dry scallops.

    THEY WERE GOOD!

by law they are allowed 20% water weight with scallops so now you have this big scallop that when cooked looks like nothing dry scallops are shucked right on the boat right into a sack then shipped for sale nothing added to them the taste is like night and day floated scallops are about 1/2 the price as dry but well worth the money thats all we cary in our store

    OK, good piece of information...
So when I go to the fish store and ask if they the scallops are dry or flaoted, if the person doesn't know use the price as a gauge, ~ $12/ Dry and ~$7 are floated, based on current pricing of course.

1 more thing, I was told scallops have a realitively short shelf life and unless you can see or smell the water from the fish market you shouldn't buy them, any truth to that? Not an issue in the summer when I am down by the boat, a little problematic in the winters of North Jersy.

Thanks for the info, next time I'm in the area I'll stop in...
