I use Bisquick as well but I add 1 to 2 tblsp of old bay and a tsp of salt and a tsp of pepper.

for a nice light and crisply batter try,

same amount of flour and corn meal [ like 1 cup of flour and 1 cup of corn meal]

season to taste , i like salt pepper and cayenne, or cajun seasoning , mix with beer to a loose batter, it should fall off spoon or wisk, cut fish into 1 inch wide strips , make sure fish is dry, dip in batter, shake off extra batter , and fry to golden brown, when batter is gold fish is done. dip in favoite sauce and enjoy... with favorite beer of course...dave

if you plan on beer battering your fish, use a dark beer like Abita Turbo Dog for a more airy and fluffy crust

Dude where do you get this stuff?? Sounds like it is only legal in 5 states! And banned in 2/3 of the counties in those states.

Any beer will work, but I agree dark beer is the best. I usually end up using yuengling just because thats normally whats in the fridge but I prefer dark or an amber bock.
