Roanoke River
Shaun, here is a emamil that i sent to my fly club last night. You did not say when you are going but if it is this week I think you will have a good trip. Water is droping!
Ok guys, here is a update date on the Roanoke River. Water level is dropping and has been since I got there on Thursday. Drop to 11,000 on Friday and are going to drop to 7,000 tonight. Big Rock is showing now and with the drop to 7,000 CFM we will see some lower unites leave the motors with some of the rocks still not showing. Although the fly bite is slow the bait bite is good with many "keeper" size fish being caught by us guides, Have had some fish over 27" and a bunch in the 22" to 27" range. With the up coming water drop tonight the fly bite should pick up this week. Water temp. is / was 58 degrees today...burr. Looks like we may see some nice size fish caught on the fly this year. What sucks is keeper season is extended to May 6th. The crowd / boat traffic in the river is bad! Lee
