South Jersey Coastal Fly Anglers Fishing Night

It was great turnout for our evening fishing get together. Even with short notice we had a good number of anglers show. 20 to 25 people showed up to fish.

Condtions were very good. We had a High tide around 6:00 pm and John Loeper had his boat on hand and shuddled some of the anglers as some spread toward the point and others toward the back bay sod banks.

It was a little breezy but not bad. Paul Kerlinger and I got a ride from John and started at the point. Paul started with a clouser and I started with a larger fly (Yanks Flutter Fish)

After a few casts Paul got a small blue.

Not wanting to get my larger fly shreaded by the blues I also changed to a clouser and caught a bluefish.

We each caught a couple more blues and then Paul got a throwback fluke.

Right before dusk I changed back to the flutter fish fly, looking for something bigger. After a few casts I caught a nice keeper fluke, which had to go back as opening day is Saturday.

Overall it was pretty decent. I believe there might of been about 30 fish caught in total. Paul and I each caught 4 fish and others also caught fluke, blues, sea herring, hickory shad and there were atleast two small stripers caught.

We fished till after dark and then headed back to the cars. Not everyone caught but there were enought fish caught to make it a great night.
