N Platte Wyoming Rainbows
I was in Ft Collins CO for a graduation and decided to do a float trip in Wyoming on Memorial Day. The river has alot of nice fish in it, I landed 10 fat trout and the weather was NASTY 49 degrees 25 to 30 kt winds with shower and downpours all day. But still the fish hit hard.
It was differant fishing in the high planes, we had antelope, muledeer, jackrabbits, pheasent, golden eagles around us all day. Lots of wildlife and some nice fish to boot!!! Last edited by Tuna Tyme; 06-17-2008 at 06:21 PM. |

WOW, looks like you earned those trout!
I'm still jealous. Wyoming is one of my favorite places to fish and I haven't been out there in a few years I've heard it's been a late spring though and there is plenty of water running off. You can't beat the wildlife and open spaces of Wyoming, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing. -D |

Where?
That's fabulous country there. I used to live in Laramie which is not too far from Fort Collins. It's definitely high plains - 7200 above sea level...!!! Wondering where you went exactly??

La Gringa I must say that I think the antalope out there out number the people in Wyoming lots of land and NO HOUSES. I really like the back country there I think that living next to I- 95 is doing something to me I just want to move some where quite and be a freaken hermit.
We fished Greys Reef and the guide told me that it holds 2500 to 3000 trout a mile and from the hits we got in that muddy water I believe they are all very hungry to. Last edited by Tuna Tyme; 06-18-2008 at 05:47 PM. |

In those days the population of the entire state was 500,000. All that land - so few people. It was a fact that we were outnumbered by the cows...!!Anyway, you've got me thinkin' about fresh rainbow trout cooked over the campfire and I'm drooling now!! Thanks for reminding me of some very fond times! ![]()
