Mostly plugs but got some on the fly

Had a beautiful evening, even though they predicted thunderstorms. Left the dock at 5:00 p.m. with a brother who had fished with me before and his sister who had never fished before.

Started at the Inlet with the incoming tide and his sister real quickly got a small striper on a swimming plug and had two bass follow it up to the boat. Thought it was going to be a hot striper night, but that was it. Worked it hard with no other strikes.

Tried the other side of the inlet with no luck so we tried the beach front were we got a keeper weakie around 15 inches on a pink gulp mullet. With no signs of bait or action we tried the inside of the inlet where we found all the blues you could want with two more small bass.

There were no signs that the fish were there, but the action was hot and heavy and once we had two fish on one plug. Blues were 3 to 4 pounds and hungry. Found out he freshwater fly fished before and asked if he wanted to try with the fly. He got 4 blues on the fly before it got dark and after dark went back to the plug. Ended the night with close to 40 blues, keeping 9 for dinner, plus the three bass and weakie that we released. Was almost tempted to go back out myself.
