I typically have a 7 and 8 wt rigged up in the boat. One rod will have a Rio Deep lake 7 and the other will have an intermediate or floater depending if the fish are biting on top or not.

Tell us what you guys target.

Me? I fish the GOM and hammer the weedlines and flotsam for mahi & 3tail... chunk around the shimpers for blackfin tuna & bonita...and hit the oil rigs for cobia all on the fly & 80% of it with 9wts. This year, stepping it up and running out to the "floaters" for yellowfin with 12wts.

Yes I do use a loop to loop for that, The knot I use most of the time is a perfection loop

I have double nail knots on either end of my fly lines. Some of my newer lines have the "welded" loops from the manufacturer that have worked well so far.

I tie a surgeons loop or bimini from the backing to the fly line for a loop to loop connection. Make sure the loop is big enough to allow the reel to pass through the loop.

I used a piece of 20 lb flouro for a leader for almost all of my bay fishing. I use a surgeons loop from the fly line to the leader.

I also use an albright if a loop breaks while in the boat.

I wasn't on the trip.

I'd guess a little under 50lbs.
