Flatties and Friends

Spent Sunday wading a favorite coastal flat w/ a few friends today and we had plenty to show for it. Only one keeper for the cooler, but plenty of releases and misses, and enough high fives, smiles, and memories to last until at least the next trip

All on the fly, all in waste deep or less water!

Very Nice! I would say you guys had one great day. All of those were nice fish. Think that striper would of brought the bigger smile, but I love to eat Fluke. Our fluke season opens this weekend. I expect to see about 200 boats per every mile of inland water way this weekend. Most of the nice keepers should be gone in about a week.

What were the go to flies that took those beauties?

Ray,
That same fly I put up here a while back..
Orange over yellow clouser with wing only.. no tail.. med brass eyes
HEAVY copper flash

The dropper is nothing more than a 2/0 fly bead chain eyes/root beer estaz/brown marabou tail/copper flash... shrimpy lookin thing.
The key is to wet fly swing the presentation. It makes all the difference in the world.
Flattie had calico's in his stomach...

Good fishing with you bud. It's always fun.

Bottom fly is the bottom fly on the tandem set up.

Top fly of the set up is not pictured, but is as OMC described.

Great pics Dave. Are there any outdoor activities that you don't partake in? Damn son, I think you got it all covered.

If I can shoot or catch it, it better hide.

In all honesty, the two guys in the pics deserve the credit for dialing in this fishery. They've put in a lot of time and I'm lucky to be able to fish with them.
