![]() Water was 57.1 and all were caught on Chartreuse/white buck tail deceivers on sinking line along the inlet rocks. No signs of Bio-luminescence after dark. Made for a nice way to end the day. |

Chartreuse, Chartreuse, Chartreuse!
Couldn't hook up with anyone to go with me this morning. Got down to the boat around 7:30 to find the docks frosted over and the boat glazed over with a coating of frost. Had to be careful getting on and just walking around. Left the dock around 7:30 and it looked like everyone who had a boat in the water was also going out to fish for the day. It was a bit brisk in an open boat and zipping along at 40 mph didn't make it any warmer. Shot out to the inlet and found the water 47.6 and very brown even close to the top of the tide. Guess all the wind yesterday stirred things up. Started out along the beach front and the water looked like coffee. I got no hits so I started working the inlet rocks. There was only about 1 foot of visibility and a lot of crap in the water. I was just about ready to leave to look in the back bay when I hooked up a small bass. ![]() Figured I would stick it out a little longer. It was the right decision. Had a pretty steady pick. ![]() ![]() ![]() I think the chartreuse fly was the key. I believe in the murky water the fish could see it if you could get it in front of their nose. Ended up with 10 bass out of 14 hits, with the two best 24 1/2 and 26 1/2 inches. Also ended up with one sea herring. ![]() ![]() With the tide making the water even murkier I shot into the back. Water was 47.1 I was disappointed with the water back there. Yesterday it was nice and clean and today it was just like the inlet water. I worked a few point breaks where I picked up 4 more bass with one going 25 inches. Again the key was a fly they could see. Chartreuse! ![]() ![]() Headed back to the dock at noon and was a happy camper with 14 striper and 1 sea herring morning on the fly. |
