first mahi of the year

hey guys, scored my first mahi of the year(a many more). went to some ATONS and pitched some flies. saw some but could get no takers. went lobster pots bouncing and while moving sighted a huge partially submerged trash can. this thing had to be themahi hilton because there was mahi everywhere. a few casts later we were hooked up. we had a triple header at one point. dave(sweet caroline) even came off the helm to catch a few with the fly rod. small flies seemed to be the ticket . the pretty big flies got some looks but no takers. ended up boating 18 and lost probably half that due to the ball busting amongst us. great trip..!!!!!! will post some pics when i get them downloaded.

Nice!!!! Think they are one of the most fun fish to catch on a fly rod. I call them poor mans marlin. On the fly rod it is like catching a marlin with all the jumps. Can't wait for the pictures.

Hell yeah...I still have to get out there for that this year.

Played with the dinks in the home waters this morn.

Thanks John glad to have you aboard once again. Our success with the offshore fly fishing is better than I expected. I really enjoyed getting the chance to take a couple casts myself. I know we have another trip lined up and I hope to get you on that tuna you have been looking for.
