Probably a resident fish. It was dark and I didn't bring my light with me.

When looking at the picture I noticed that the eyes of my clouser came off. Find that happens once in awhile when you use the lead eyes and you bang them agains the rocks or get them hung up. Maybe that is why I didn't get any more hits. With it being dark I didn't notice.

Foggy and drizzle this morning. If the fishing was normal it would be a perfect bass morning in the boat along the rock. With the cold water I am going sit this one out.

No luck tonight.

Was super foggy after dinner tonight and not much wind. Got Paul and Peter from the SJCFA to give it a try with me over at the point. When we got there it was very foggy and got foggier. We thought we were in for a good night as we saw a small bass caught on bait and the guys said they had caught a few before we came. The water was nice and clean and it looked good.

We thrashed the water pretty good and worked the beach between a few jetties without a fish. I had the only hit on my clouser. It was a Hickory Shad. I could see a few surfacing along the jetty. Switched to a shad fly but they just wouldn't take it.

We worked it hard for a couple of hours. Good company but no fish.

Did some fun things around town this morning with my wife and had a friend want to go fishing this afternoon. Decided to go out in my boat and try the beach front and jetties. I was kidding him about only using fly rods. He said to bring a couple along and he would give it a try.

Got to where we wanted to fish. The water was 51 and a fairly heavy sea swell would not allow us to work the prime area where we wanted to so we worked with what we got. After a half hour off fishing he wanted to try the fly rod. He has only caught a few on the fly with me when they have been biting hot, never just blind casting. Well doesn't he hook up a small bass about 15 minutes later using my new 8wt and a chart/white clouser.

I was happy for him cause the wind was a bit of a problem and he needs some work on his cast but he was getting the fly in the strike zone.

Meantime I can't buy a hit. After working a few spots we worked the inlet jetty rocks on the south and north sides with out a strike. Near the end we went into the back flats to check it out and had 52 degree water and doesn't he comes up with another fish. This time it is a small fluke or window pane flounder on the same clouser.

Still no fish for me and he asks where can we go so he can get a slam with weakie or blue.

I had what felt like one hit all day and my buddy had two fish on the fly. I told him he must be doing something right cause he was catching fish. We had a fun afternoon and he saved the day with his two fish.

Beautiful day but a bit windy today. Pete and I decided to work the low tide along the beach front with a strong west wind blowing. Left the dock around 10:30 a.m. with a stiff west wind blowing. Saw Kelly kelly working the inlet tip and he told us it was a tough morning and he was calling it a day. Sea swells and lots of wind on the beach and that he had been out for a while with no action.

Being die hards we said we were going to try it anyway. We got to the beach front and found 53 degree water but a ton of wind and it was pretty cold. We both had to wear heavy jackets. Even with the electric motor, it was a major job to try and keep the boat in position.

After an hour of fighting the wind I decide to anchor and let the wind blow us in toward the structure. It worked pretty good except for the tide and the gusts kept us oscillating in and then away.

12:30 I had a solid hit and hooked up a nice bass on an Olive/Chart/white clouser using intermediate line. Knew it was a decent fish as it went right to the reel. It put up a nice fight and I was able to keep it out of our anchor line.

It was 27 1/2 inches, my best on the fly for the year, just a little short of a keeper. We thought we might be in for some good action, but that was it. We tried three locations and as the afternoon wore on it got even windier and very gusty. The only way we had any fishing at all was that we were as close to the surf as wee could get and the land blocked a good portion of the wind.

After getting wind blasted with no hits we decided to stop beating the dead horse and headed in.
