Interesting day. The report from Monday was lots of Bluefins at the 230 line. 4 boats fished from the Rockpile to the 330 line. One Bluefin was boated ar the 265 line near the change. Late in the day there were some Bliuefin hooked at the 305 line. There was a rare Blackfin and Yellowfin. Lots of False Albacore.
A seabuoy floating unattached was found late in the day. Some Dolphins and Yellowfins were found near this. This buoy had been found monday. 48 hours earlier. We think the Down Current brought it back. The Down Current or Downtide is a reverse flow of Gulfstream Water presumably from an eddy that separates from the main current and coils on itself and reverses course. I believe it is seen more commonly with stong NE winds.
We had the fastest downtide I have ever seen. It exceeded 2 knots. Inshore water was 45-47 degrees and in the Blue Water downtide the temp was 67-71 degrees. There was persistent ground fog over the warmer water, Sea Smoke.
Bill Brown and friends from Suffolk fished with us. I hope they will return on a more productive day.
