i havnt gotten comfortable enough to go out that far alone yet...not many other people around here fish the ocean in their yaks, i would go out further with a partner yak. or even a group. just do not feel comfortable alone. maybe ill get a little hand held radio, would be a good idea anyway.

sounds like fun :-) i might be takin the yak up north this christmas when i visit some family that live about 15 min from seaside heights, so who knows :-)

Hi Jesse I do it all the time its fine when the ocean is flat and theres no wind
is the key unless your going to throw on a electric motor LOL, VHF radio is
inportant to have also. Jesse its not a good idea to bring the yak up in the
winter time water is too cold and very dangerous and if to roll over hypothermia will set in then your in big trouble

i hear ya on cold water . i plan on fishing for specks all winter here outa the yak, will be in the sound/inshore mostly. got an aquskinz ready to go.

havnt tohught much about the ocean in winter, not much around here to catch really, just dogfish. and gettin freezing wet and cold aint worth no damn dogfish.

wil fish the fall outa the yak in the ocean until water is to cold for shorts/t-shirt :-)

do you ever fish at night? if so, do you hve a little light on ur yak to be seen by boats? because i plan to fish quite a bit at night for specks this fall/winter and i am goingto be instaling a light stick on my yak. prlly about a 3' rod all the way at my stern, and just some lil green/red light so i dont get run over. not that the boat traffic shoud be bad at midnight in november, but fish and game will ticket the hell outa me too, and i really dont feel like getting run over :-)

Jesse I'll wear my wet suit till the end of oct. for the stripers and the fall run, I do
fish at night and love it my yak is all decked out fishfinder rocket lunchers and as for LIGHTS dont use RED or GREEN other boaters have a bad habit of
coming along side to see what your up too I use a strobe lite thats fixxed to
the back of my high back seat and flashes behind you wont hurt the eyes and
bright enough for everone to see they stay away because they think its offical bussiness LOL . Get a strobe the ones that attach to lifejackets there
cheep and the fish like them too.
