    Winter flounder how-to

I'm sorry about coming in asking questions, but I'm hoping you guys will give me the help I need to get better and stop asking such simple things....

I accidentally cuaght a flounder while I was stripped bass fishing at this cliffwood beach spot, and I was wondring if it's possible for me to target them from there. if so how do I do it? It seems from the reports I read here that chum is important, but will that work from shore? I'm assumming that I need to get some rigs like I saw at the tackle shop, but what else do I need?

Dont be sorry about asking questions and welcome aboard.
Mostly drift fishing for flounder, chumming probably would not help.
maybe throw a hand full of white rice over occasionaly to try to attract em
( they are sight feeders) but you drift and return trying to stay in a channel.
From shore, maybe on an outgoing tide, never tried it. Chum needs to move. If your fishing strippers, downsize hooks and bait with squid or minnow might help.

Joe, good advice but he's actually talking about winter flounder. We call your flounder fluke up here.

TOS, flounder tend to be more of an incedantal catch from the beach. There are places like in shark river that are more productive, but where you're talking it's hit or miss from shore. It's definately worth a shot putting out a rod with a flounder rig and either a piece of sandworm or clam strip, they have small mouths so it's small hooks and small bait.

Chumming from shore is tough cause you really don't have much current to move the chum, you can try it and it can't hurt you but it's not gonna pile 'em up like from the boat. You can ask Chris at Crabby's there on front street and he'll be able to tell you the best way to go, he knows that area as well as anyone.

There's other little tricks that's take an hour to write, but nothing that'll make too big a difference from shore. Give it a shot and you might hook up though.
    Always swimming against the tide

Winter flounder on a stripper hook ? Was it foul hooked ?
Wouldn't have thought a winter flounder could get a stripper hook in its mouth.
