Where have all the striped bass gone?

So I have to admit that I am getting a tad frustrated. We have been scanning the water of Raritan bay for entirely to long this spring with out a striped bass in sight. Plenty of bluefish, skates, and did I say bluefish?

Is anyone else having a slow season?

Head to the ocean and run down the beach...and early if you fish days, 9am and its over unless it's foggy out. Otherwise fish after dark, seems these are the only things working with consistency right now. I'll be out VERY early Sun and will be running south hard, hopefully heading home early with a some fish in the box and some released. The fish this time of year are big, no need to keep a limit the fillets are big, plus many of these are the breeders. This has been a slow year so do not feel bad, I've had fish almost every trip but never worked so hard to put a catch togeather, there has been very little consistency unlike previous years. Make sure you fish fresh bait, it always outfishes frozen or even day old. We only fish bunker and fish them live, if they die we keep them one night and only chum them, chunks we fish as bait are from live bunker, they love it still twitching!!
