I've been catching spot in my canal on 28th street for the past 20 years and in the past 2 years, in the fall, I've probably caught 2 dozen reds while spot fishing or in the cast net. Never seen it before then but they put a hell of a bend in an ultralight with 4# mono! I'm pretty sure that if someone were to take the time and fish the shallow marshes WAY up past the 90 bridge you'd probably get into some puppies and specks.

Spot are the ONLY thing that boat has caught this year There is something seriously wrong with my ability to catch anything edible this year.

Who's to say the Tarpon aren't here already?

I've heard a few tales of them being caught in the bay in nets at the same latitude.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone didn't catch one in the next 5 years in MD waters

They've been caught at the first lump before. During the tuna tourney I was down the parking lot way and saw no less than half a dozen cobia. They were either hanging around sunfish or turtles and one of them was well over 50#'s. Another relative newcomer is the pinfish. Never caught them while spot fishing till about 5 or 6 years ago.
