We fished several days this week mostly within 20 miles of the beach. Thursday we had all you wanted and caught fish on every snag we stopped on. Friday started out much the same but we had to return early since one of the folks got sick. You know, after he started feeling poorly he announced to all present that " Whenever I go fishing, I get sick". If he knew that, why did he come? Seems to me that because of his problem 5 other guys lost the day and the cost of the charter. I guess maybe I have the wrong attitude but it bothered me that we were on the fish and the other guys were unable to fish and have a great time because of a problem that the guy knew he had. Seems to me that he should have toughed it out , at least long enough for the others to enjoy themselves. That darn SW wind which was definitely NOT 10-15 kts., actually dropped the water temp from 63 to 59 overnight and the sea bass turned off like you threw a switch. A fellow I know hit 3 major ships and caught a total of 2 sea bass. We went inshore and fished flounder. i am happy to say that the fluke seem to be showing up in the ocean as well. We made 4 stops and caught fluke at every one. Most were shorts but they are there and they were biting. On Sunday, we discovered that the sea bass had recovered from their lockjaw and were quite cooperative. In addition we had some fluke as well. I hear rumors and some chatter on the radio that the BFT have started to show at the 20 line. YES!!! i guess it's time to get the tuna lures on board as well. It seems that the season is late but is definitely starting to roll. I do love this time of year. i do also have a few dates open and remember that I sail from Margate which is exit 36 on the Parkway. That makes it about a half hour closer than when we are in Cape May. The new video recording system works great.
