VOYAGER LATE COD REPORT, TILE REPORT AND LING/SEA BASS REPORT, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, 6-24-10

[Saltwater Fishing]

COD REPORT- Last Friday's COD trip was very good for some and fair for others. I really couldn't get the front half of the boat to get the bites no matter how I positioned the boat. It was probably a function of bottom current but no matter what I tried, the bites were in the back. Some guys had a dozen or more keepers and others had one to five while others had none. The same guys with a dozen keepers also had 20-30 throwbacks. Kevin Kovach of Lanoka Harbor was high hook with 11 COD and 2 POLLOCK including the 27 lb. pool winning POLLOCK. Dru Kegreiss Jr. of Point Pleasant had 10 keeper COD as did Barry Goldman of Tinton Falls. Most of the fish were caught on bait but some were jigged including the pool winner. Our next COD trip will be Friday morning July 2 at 4AM.

TILEFISH REPORT-This past Monday's TILEFISH trip was good. We picked away most of the day on fish ranging from three to ten pounds. We did catch a few in the 10-25 pound range and almost had a three way tie for the pool with three 30 pound fish. After carefully weighing the three fish, Teddy Valentine of Nyack, NY edged out both Brant Whittaker and Bill Bushnell for the pool honors. High hook honors went to Mike Desimone of Long Branch, NJ with ten fish up to 20 pounds. Due to popular demand we have added a trip leaving at 11:30PM on Sunday night July 4 fishing on Monday the 5th. Please e-mail in for reservations.

SEA BASS & LING-The past few trips we have been seeing more LING than SEA BASS but yesterday's trip had a nice mix of both with high hooks in the 20-25 fish range. The weather looks good for the weekend. We are sailing Saturday but we have a private charter on Sunday.

On Friday we are having our Shimano sponsored FLUKE and SEA BASS trip. The trip will be leaving at 7:30AM and returning at 3PM. We will primarily be drifting over rough bottom for the FLUKE and SEA BASS. On this trip the first 20 people will receive a Free Shimano hat and Shimano Lucanus jig. Please e-mail us to let us know that you are coming. You will be able to learn the latest jigging techniques from the Shimano pro staff and demo the latest Shimano equipment (you should still bring your own favorite fishing outfit). There will be prizes given out for the biggest fish caught on Shimano jigs as well as a jigging seminar on board at 7:15AM before we leave.
