Voyager fishing report, Point Pleasant Beach 8-5
August 5, 2011
TILEFISH REPORT
We've made a few TILEFISH trips since our last report. Fishing has been good on both the one-day and two-day trips.
On our last two-day trip, we caught a variety of species including Rosefish, Streamer Bass, White Hake, Silver Hake, an unknown Shark, an unknown pinkish Hake, and of course, TILEFISH.
We targeted Rosefish at the beginning of the trip with some anglers catching 30, 40, and even 50 of these tasty critters. We had good fishing on Tilefish in the 10-25 pound range with a few bigger ones mixed in.
Emil Jaskot of Elmwood Park, NJ had the pool winning 44 pound Tilefish just edging out Lou Petosa of Plainville, CT.
Our last one day Tilefish trip was good with smaller fish being the most plentiful. We still had a number of 8-15 pound Tilefish in the mix which kept things interesting.
Jim Matunas of Florham Park, NJ won the pool with a 25 pound Tilefish.
Keep an eye on our Trip Calendar since we may be adding one more two-day Tilefish Trip to the August schedule!
LING REPORT
Ling fishing remains good with a few Cod mixed in. We have been fishing depths ranging from 120 to 200 feet. Last weekend's high hook was Drew Bell of Camden, NJ with 30 Ling. We are sailing open boat for Ling Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30 AM and Saturday night from 6:30 PM to 12:30 AM.
