    LING & SEA BASS REPORT

LING fishing was pretty good over the past few days and on Saturday night. A good number of the fish have been large to extra large with pool winners up to 5 pounds. We have also been seeing a few SEA BASS and some COD on the day trips. Over the weekend High hooks were between 15 and 20 fish per trip.

This week we will be fishing for SEA BASS, LING, & COD on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday morning at 7:30AM. We will not be fishing Friday morning as we have a private charter. We will also be sailing for LING on Saturday night at 6:30PM.

    TILEFISH REPORT

Our 2-day TILEFISH trip was good while the weather held. We started fishing in calm winds and seas slugging away at quality fish in the 10-35 pound range. As the day went on, the winds increased and fishing slowed to a slow pick. The fish were still quality but there were not as many of them. We also picked at some ROSE fish and a couple of WHITE HAKE. The pool went to Mike Desimone of Long Branch as he caught a triple header TILE including the 35+ pound pool winner. The weather turned much worse by the morning of the second day and we called it quits early as conditions became unfishable.

    BLUEFIN TUNA REPORT

Captain John reports that after a slow day on Friday with only some large MAHI to show for their efforts, the fishing bounced back on Saturday. The fish schooled up on Saturday and responded well to both bait and jigs. The fish ranged in size from 40-65 pounds allowing both an "under" and an "over" fish to be kept. There were also reports of some 100-150 pound fish being caught in the area. Captain John thinks that things are shaping up for some really good fishing in the weeks ahead.

We will be sailing every Thursday and Saturday in July and August when not chartered and we still have a couple of spots available this Thursday and Saturday, July 21 & 23. If you would like to book a single spot or group charter or have any further questions please contact Captain John directly at 732-773-9477 or by e-mail at ShearwaterCaptainJohn@gmail.com .
