January 31, 2011

We made two trips over the weekend. The first trip was an offshore overnight wreck trip. The offshore fishing was picky with a number of small Cod, but not enough keepers. Mike DeSimone of Long Branch, NJ won the pool with a 14 pound Codfish and also took high hook honors with 5 keepers.

On Sunday, after being sidelined due to bad weather and dock construction for most of January, we finally made a 20-40 mile Cod trip. Fishing was good with a lot of action. We kept about 50 fish and threw back between two and three times that many. Frank, Archie, and Mike combined for 16 keepers for the day. Fishing should continue to improve as more fish migrate into the area.

They are just about finished with the dock repairs at our slip. Between the uncertainty of construction completion and the lousy forecast for Wednesday we will NOT be sailing on the 20-40 mile trip on February 2. After that, we will be fishing on schedule, every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday morning from 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

We have been updating the trip calendar on our web site by 6:00 PM the night before the 20-40 mile trips to indicate if we are canceling for any reason. Please check it before you come down.

This Friday night is our first BLOCK ISLAND COD SPECIAL of the year. So far, fishing has been good there this season. We still have room so if you are interested please e-mail us.
