Trolling and jigging Report Bass, Blues.

When I hit the utches marina parking lot I could see doug getting gear to the boat, the sun just breaking the horizon. The air had more of an october chill instead of being late november in cape may.















Heading out into the harbor

Ran up toward herefords looking for birds, wasn't much activity with the birds bud we started marking huge pods of sand eels. So out goes the trolling rods. Actually doug likes to fish hi stretches on trevala spinning rods matched up with shimano bait runner 4500.
Purple and balck stretch goes on the port side and a red and white stretch goes on the other side way back basicall have it atart to bottom bounce and then crank up a few. It didn't take long for the yellowed eyed gangsters to come out and play.
My rod goes down , boat in neutral and blam dougs rod gets blasted dble header

After we get them to the boat and in the box(smoked bluefish, don't knock it till ya try it)
The trolling rods went away and out come the jigs

How I butt hooked a sand eel i'll never know but the bait was extremly thick. Bite died down and we trolled up a few more blues and heade for the barn, but on are way we ran into a small fleet and everyone was hooked up so we decided to break out the jigs who could resist. We actually caught a couple of them endangerd dogfish on the jigs Had areally nice day ended up keeping two bass for the table and three blues for the smoke. Overall we had 6 bass and 8-10 bluefish up to 15lbs. Really nice day and as we headed home the NE breeze started to freshen. Not bad for a 3hr trip
