Smile TnT -- JCAA Fluke Tourney Sandy Hook NJ 6-12-10

Fished the JCAA Fluke Tournament today, choosing our weigh in Port to be Highlands NJ....left Atlantic Highlands around 6am with my Bow Monkey Mike aka - LAB, and Balki aka Orlando, and turned the Hook and bam..SOUTH WIND!

Hit a few numbers with some bites and misses and not much going on (where we left 'em biting yesterday). Some moves and wiggles and my blue camo chaos rod doubles over. Both Orlando and Mike thought I was stuck in the bottom till they seen the rod shaking, which sent them scrambling for the net..as I Flop a nice 28" x 9# on the deck and we thought we were in:
The Driver's Seat for the Tournament
In for a great day of big fish but not to be...

We lost conditions at the top of the tide (despite power drifting) but things picked up once it started moving again. It was wind against but the wind overtook the tide/current.

We wound up with nine IN THE BOAT. We actually tossed back a couple right at 18". We must have had a dozen to 18 shorts, TWO greyhounds (sand sharks) and some sea bass. The 9, Orlando's 6.5 and a few 4 -5.5#ers.

Came home with sun and wind burn and weighed in KNOWING someone already carded a 10#er. We were hoping to hang on for second place...
