Tilefish/Grouper Ages

Good morning. It has taken longer than we had expected, but we now have some of the ages for the tilefish and grouper that were donated last year, both by your crew, and some others.

The delay in getting 'all' of the ages has occurred because the Beaufort Lab was retasked last year to process somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 otoliths from Vermillion snapper collected over time, and this delayed all other projects, including the cooperative work with VMRC and the Marine Sportfish Collection Project. However, the lab remains committed to working with us, though obtaining age results may take longer than what we can produce for other finfish species locally.

Thanks for your assistance in 2007 in obtaining samples. Some just talk about helping, you actually did help.
