Even though the water has been slow to warm up. The fishing behind Cape May and Wildwood area has heated up. With water temperatures at the inlet area being around 49 bass are hitting flies and plugs along the jetty rocks and in the back bay Flies, plugs along with the first fish on poppers has started. Water temps are still only in the mid 50's on the outgoing tide but things are starting to pop. Bass in the back are running from 20 inches into the mid 30's along with the first blues up to 24 inches.
Today with the opening of Fluke season we cancelled for the day due to high winds and most everyone stayed at the dock.
I keep looking for those tide runners, but no luck yet. Weather this last week hasn't made it easy. Been mainly doing striper trips. Hope next week will bring the first nice weakie. Pretty cool here tonight, sure doesn't feel like May.
