TEAM HANDYMAN & INSUFISHENT FUNDS GO TO BAHAMAS, CLASSIC........
Jerry Harris, Rob Pami and myself went over to the Bahamas to help film a new show for Discovery Channel, I hate to sound stupid but I cant disclose any info on the show until it airs. Well lets start with leaving New Jersey on Friday December 7th with the Insufishent Funds Fountain 38 and taking it to Sign Zoo to get a face lift and yes that is Jerry doing the Hill Billy Ballet on the bow.
new wrap1.jpg resize wrap2.jpg Then we went to my place in Jupiter to put the boat in and head over to West End. We thought we were going to beat the weather because leaving the inlet there was no wind, but that lasted about a mile or so then for the next 59 miles it was 4-6 foot seas head on. We still made the crossing in under 2 and a half hours jupiter inlet.jpg jupiter inlet2.jpg Arriving in the Bahamas we cleared customs and just jumped out to the reef for a little bit before the production company showed up. We had the luxury of staying at the Old Bahama Bay Resort, which was top notch. first in the bahamas.jpg first bahamas fish.jpg first baracuda.jpg Attachment 42165 One thing that we really wanted to try was to put some real effort into buttery fly jigging the ledges off of memory rock. We must have caught 100 different fish through out the week but Jerry is the only one who hooked into something big and almost got spooled on Stella 8000. We put a little more pressure on the fish and the line parted. Also we lost a lot of our fish and jigs to our friend Mr. Barracuda on the way up. butter...jpg butter....jpg butter..jpg Attachment 42168 Attachment 42169 butter.....jpg butter.,.jpg butter,...jpg butter,.,.jpg butter1.jpg this on was kind of crazy because we had hooked it two days prior on an Olde Salt hook with our Yo-Zuri dissapearing pink flouro and then caught him again on a butterfly jig two days later. butter2.jpg it was amazing how these jigs would just make the fish go crazy this yellow tail was not even as big as the jig but he still hit it.... butter3.jpg butter4.jpg We tried to high-speed troll for Wahoo but with the seas the way they were I just couldn’t get the boat to troll right. The most we could get was ten knots before the boat would just want to get on plane and take off. And at ten knots all we caught was four cudas. baracuda.jpg It wasn’t until Friday that we found a real good piece of the reef and the craziness’ started. We were chumming off of Memory Rock catching blue runners and all different kinds of snappers when a small school of amber jacks came in. With out Jerry knowing I put on a blue runner and handed the rod to jerry and told him to hold on. amberjack fight.jpg amberjack.jpg After the school of jacks came the school of dolphin to 25 pounds. At this point it was out of control in the cockpit. dolphinfight.jpg dolphin1.jpg dolphin.jpg I finally got the bull out of the group and after a serious wrestling match got the photo. The last pic is of Robbie with one he caught on 12lb test. Total we caught 6 of them. wrestle..jpg bull..jpg my bull.jpg last dolphin.jpg Then Robbie almost got spooled by a 50-60lb class king on an Avet LX that we lost at the boat. but he did manage to get this what i believe to be a horseeye jack in the boat. horseeye.jpg through out the whole trip we did have a few visitors to the boat including one very large Tiger shark and one that i believe is related to the Harris Family. visitors.jpg long lost brother.jpg also through out the week we caught numerous sharks from Lemons to Nurse to Reefs. fight,.,..jpg shark fight.jpg shark fight..jpg All in all it was another great trip with good Company as for the Discovery Channel photos and video i will show that at a later date...
