I gotta say both of you guys got some nice fish.
I was out Thursday and we were on a a non stop bite.
Most of the Togs were short. I still cant believe we cant fish for seabass but they allow all those traps out there. We could have filled the cooler with them. it seems like there was a war down there between the Seabass and Togs over the green crabs.
The first set up I had was the small circle hooks which seem to work okay. What i didn't like about them was removing the hook from the togs but the sea bass was fine. The togs have that tough lip which made removing the circle's a little bit of a pain. After I lost that rig to the reck I went back to J's it just an easier hook to remove from togs. I don't dead stick them and when the bite is on it's faster to release with J's. I can see how dead sticking would be good if you are alone and want to get the meat then what have you got loose except some more crabs.
I HAVE TRIED BOTH HERE LATELY IN MY PAST CHARTERS AND I AM STICKING WITH MY TRUSTY J-HOOKS......
........SOORYYYYYYY LEFT WING DEMS........BUT IT JUST WORKS BETTER ON A TAUG.....
AND BY THE WAY TO THE PAST POSTERS ON HERE JUST BEFORE ME - THE SEABASS POTS ARE STILL OUT THER BECAUSE THE COMMERCIAL SEA BASS POT FISHERMAN HAVE NOT FILLED THEIR QUOTA THIS YEAR TO DATE. THEY HAVE BEEN CUT THE PAST 5 YEARS EARLY.......NOW I GUESS YOU KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE ON A MINOR SCALE............................................................................................................................![]()
