THURSDAY TRIP DITCHED WEDNESDAY MORNING DUE TO THE LOUSY HIGH WINDS AND CRAPPY WEATHER ALL DAY WEDNESDAY. I THINK THEY WERE WORRIED ABOUT DRIVING ALL THE WAY DOWN AND NOT GETTING TO FISH THURSDAY AND THEY RESCHEDULED. TURNS OUT THE WIND LAYED RIGHT OUT YESTERDAY AND IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY,....BUT THEN AGAIN I AM SURE THAT THE WATER WAT MERKY AND STIRRED UP FROM ALL OF THE BLOW WEDNESDAY. NOT SURE WHAT THEY WANT TO FISH FOR ON TOMORROWS CHARTER,....BE IT FLOUNDER, ROSKFISH, OR TAUTOG.....BUT IF WE GO FOR TOG, I AM GOING TO TRY THE CIRCLES AND IF WE DO I WILL GIVE YOU A REPORT OK.

I use Power pro with a 15 to 20 foot top-shot of 30lb mono . I don't think they'er line shy. I use the top shot for easy rigging since your fishing wrecks or rocks, so you can count on loosing tackle.

the tog we catch all come on 3/0 gamakatsu octopus j hooks snelled to a 6 inch leader, attached to a dropper loop on 50# mono attached direct to your mainline (braid) via uni-uni. dropper loop on the bottom for your weight.

Those are some nice fish! We're going out tomorrow I hope to get a monster since it's only 1 per man right now.

As far as circle hooks go, I use them for "dead sticking" when I'm anchored inshore around the jetties or shallow wrecks and rockpiles. I use 4 or 5/0 Gamis tied on two dropper loops. Bait up with crab or fleas, drop it to the bottom, come tight and then put it in the rod holder. I then will drop down with another rod and fish it normally. You'd be amazed at how many double headers we have caught using this method. It rarely gets snagged as the tog seem to calm down if you just leave it in the holder for a minute or two, then pick it up and start reeling like hell !
