Big weakfish have invaded the New Jersey coast this spring and have captured the attention of many anglers. This is evident by the fact that teen size fish have been caught with some regularity in the last two weeks. There has also been the catch of the potential IGFA All Tackle World Record by Dave Alu of Jackson while he was being guided by our own Shore Catch guide Rich Swisstack. The trophy weighed 19 pounds, 12 ounces. For the fly fisher, weakfish means the closest thing to a big freshwater trout that you can catch, but in saltwater. The weakfish's robust fighting ability coupled with the fact that they fall easy prey to a feathered imitation make them an excellent target at this time of year.
