Stripers are snappin. Ya gotta love it

Nobody knew what the blow would do to the fishing but Jim Begley, his son Chris, and Chris's buddy, Casey, set out to see if there were any stripers that survived the heavy wind. We started out just about at slack low water but were able to capture a small bass which we threw back to grow up. We then moved off to await the start of the incoming. As soon as the tide started, we set out the traditional 6 outfits with the freshest bunker we had and within 20 minutes the spinning rod folded up and the reel started to scream. What a run! The Fin nor offshore reel has a tremendous drag and was as smooth as silk. It was hard to get the rod out of the holder but in a short time, Casey, who was a striper virgin was kicking bass .

He boated a very nice 42" fish for his first ever.

After 15 mutes, the short rod dipped and Chris picked it up, tightened the line and was hooked up. This fish was 1" smaller than Casey's but it was his first keeper bass and he seemed to be very happy.

Now Jim had been waiting patiently for his turn and after a bit, he was on and eventually boated a very nice 42" fish as well. This was also his first striper.

That is a pretty good start for all of them in striper fishing. Heck it was several years before I caught a fish that size. We did have another short fish, but the action was pretty much over as the high tide came. The chunking was not great but we did catch some nice fish and there were 3 great smiles at the end of it all.

I guess if we are going to catch 5 fish, having 3 fish like these is a real help. I will be fishing every day from Wednesday till some time in the 2nd week of December and I still have 3 days open in November so give a call.
