Sterling Harbor fishing report, Wildwood 11-20
When the weather permits, the Delaware Bay and the Cape May Rips are producing Striped Bass in the 20 to 40 pound class. Chunking with Bunker is the ticket in the Delaware Bay, and the bite has been excellent. Rich Weatherby of Millville, NJ weighed in a 43.5 pound Striped Bass caught while chunking bunker with "Team Sailfish" in the Delaware Bay. Joan Reid of Woodbury Heights, NJ chunked a 27 pound Bass and a 19 pound Bass from the Delaware Bay while fishing on her boat "Hogemall". Bill Stewart of Swedesboro, NJ weighed in a 29 pound Striper caught while chunking bunker on his boat "Cricket" in the Delaware Bay. In the Rips, the Stripers are taking live eels or live spot. Togging is excellent around the jetties, bridges, and inshore wrecks with most anglers limiting out. Green Crabs is the bait of choice. The surf action in Wildwood and Cape May remains slow, however some encouraging reports of Striped Bass and Bluefish came from LBI this past week. Hopefully these fish will work their way south and into our area soon.
