    Sterling Harbor Fishing report -5-9

Stripers up to 40 inches, Black Drum and Bluefish are being caught in the surf off the North Wildwood beach and near Poverty Beach in Cape May. Clam is the bait of choice. John Kotyk of Wildwood weighed in a
33 inch Striper cuaht on Clam off the North Wildwood beach. The first reports of Tiderunner Weakfish came in right before the weekend from the Cape May Point Jetties using Bucktails tipped with twister tails.
In the Delaware Bay some Drumfish are being caught in the Brandywine Light area and Tussey Slough areas. Drumfish action should improve as the water warms. Mike Galioto, age 10, of Turnersville, NJ caught his first ever Black Drum weighing 18 pounds. Mike caught the fish on fresh clam while fishing on Dad's "Reel Hooker" near Brandywine Light.
Make sure to call the shop to reserve your fresh clams during the spring Drumfish run. Schoolie Stripers and snapper Bluefish are being caught all over the Back Bays and anglers are reporting that plenty of Summer Flounder are around which is building the anticipation for the upcoming opening day of Flounder season.
