Sterling Harbor Bait and Tackle , Wildwood 9-11
Flounder fishing remains inconsistent post Hurricane Irene and Katia and little was heard about the offshore fishing due to the weather. Scott Wheeler of the "Big Bone" out of Wildwood, NJ report 7 keeper Flounder up to 5 pounds at the Old Grounds on Saturday. Snapper Blues and Croakers are biting off Cape May Point and just off the beach. In the surf there are Snapper Blues and reports of an occasional Striper being caught. Joseph Good, age 10, of York, PA pulled a 30 inch Striped Bass from the Wildwood Crest surf using finger Mullet for bait. In the back bays, schoolie Stripers can be caught on soft plastics or top water plugs toward dusk, mainly on the high tides around the sod banks. Crabby Jack gives the crabbing 2 Claws and says crabbing has slowed, but should improve now that we are past the full moon. Next Saturday, September 17th is the 27th Annual Kids Freshwater Fishing Tournament at Scotland Run Park in Clayton, NJ from 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM.
