Flounder are still being caught in the Back Bays and around the Inlets with lots of throwbacks in the mix. Bob Harbaugh of Newark, DE caught his personal best Summer Flounder which tipped the scales at 7 pounds
6 ounces. Bob caught the fish near Grassy Sound on Randy Harbaugh's boat "Randy's Toy" out of Wildwood, NJ. There are still plenty of Flounder being caught at the Reefs, the Old Grounds and Reef Site 11.
Most of the fish are throwbacks, but there is plenty of action. Some nice Sea Bass are also being caught while Fluke fishing. Eryn Quinn of Gloucester, NJ weighed in a 3 pound 7 ounce Sea Bass caught while drifting the Reef on Ted Savage's "Tides of March". From 4 FB out to the East Lump and beyond Dolphin are being caught, even on occasion, by those drifting for Flounder. To get in on this action try trolling small feathers, small cedar plugs, spoons, and Ballyhoo. Kevin Ebner of Wildwood, NJ weighed in a 29 pound Wahoo. Kevin caught the fish near 4FB while trolling Ballyhoo on Charles Ebner's "Millie Lee" out of Wildwood, NJ It was Ladies Day on Butch Moss' boat "Split Second"
out of Wildwood, NJ with Maureen Shields weighing in an 18 pound Dolphin measuring 42.5 inches and Carla Moss weighing in a 12 pound Dolphin. The ladies caught the fish while trolling near 4 FB. Tom D'Alfonso and Kevin Lee of Elk, NJ checked in with a pair of 15 pound Dolphin caught while trolling on Tom's "Keep Reel'n" near the East Lump.
At the Canyons, Tuna action slowed this week, however there are plenty of White Marlin, Blue Marlin and Dolphin being caught. There has been some great top water Schoolie Striper action in the back bays while they are feeding at daybreak and dusk with Smack-It Lures, Zara Spooks and the like. On the Kayak Fishing scene, Mike Ryan of Cliffside Park, NJ checked in to report a 4 pound Flounder and a 7 pound Flounder caught near Cold Spring Inlet on his Hobie Mirage Outback kayak.
Crabby Jack gives the crabbing 4 Claws this week and says they are big and plentiful.
