Just bought a 65' hat!
Starting off 2010
After a sleepy winter, Black Bart made its return to the waters of Delaware Saturday. After splashing in about 9:15 thanks the guys at Anglers Boat Yard, Dave and myself made one quick stop at the slip to check the lines and pick up our clam shuckers Jimmy and Dave.

We weren't going to let a little thing like a small craft advisory get in the way of a good day to fish, so we headed out the inlet. So with ice in cooler and a boat load of shucked clams from Bill's we headed towards the dark side of the bay (Jersey). The SCA was justified and the 2-4ft chop slowed us down to 20kts. After heading north for a bit, we anchored up by the Miah Maul lighthouse after spotting a few NJ charter boats known for being on the fish.
We got the first hookup after about 5 Jimmy Buffet songs with Dave-I'm the brother-in-law on the stick. It makes it about half way and throws the hook.
Dave-they call me Dogfish, lights up with a good one about 15 minutes later, brings it to the boat and the net goes in the water. Moving the net towards the fish, it bends in half. No net, the fish swings it's self loose. Lucky for Dave, I had the leader, so he was counting that as an official release - ala Tred Barta style! LOL
After that everyone got in on the action, even Jimmy-don't call me Sarah-Lee. We put three in the box, the tide switched, the wind cut off and so did the bite. We moved one more time but nothing much to write about except 2 skates.
The ride home was much quicker cruising close to 40kts. It was a great first trip and the season started, like it ended - with a box of fish.

There was a ton of life in bay - fishing season is most certainly in full swing in shore. Although, it was only 187NM to some 75 deg water...

I can see it's dangerous for you, but if the government trusts me, maybe you could.
