Spring Black Drum fishing on the Delaware Bay out of Cape May on the 55 Hooked Up II
For those that might be interested in some spring Black Drum fishing on the Delaware Bay starting sometime in late April or early May and possibly some trophy stripers I posted some general information on what our charter business has to offer this upcoming 2009 spring season to the Sportfishing.com community
The 55 HOOKED UP II is one of finest big charter boats on the entire east coast and on many drop dead beautiful days or night it a bit of overkill for fishing the Delaware Bay. We realize that but for spring Drum fishing and Stripers for those that might like some creature comforts such as staying warm and dry this spring fishing with us might be an option. On many of those early season late April and May dates it still can get quite chilly and the bay does it nasty at times plus you will never get wet on our boat except when it rains and even then you can stay dry with our protected lazarette seating in the cockpit. We offer many different lengths of drum trips with various pricing depending on when and how long your trip might be. If the bigger stripers show up within 25 miles or so of Cape May like they did last spring we offer some combo trips targeting both trophy Stripers and Black Drum but will only do these trips if we feel confident there is a decent chance of catching a few. In addition to having one of the nicest charter boats you will ever fish on we have almost 30 years experience fishing the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays for spring drum and we do catch our share. Spring Drumming is all about kicking off the spring inshore season by having a great fun filled fishing trip on the Delaware Bay with the opportunity to catch some pretty strong fish and big fish as some of these drum get up to 90 lbs or bigger and for inshore fishing that is not a bad size fish. Almost all our customers that had never caught a Black Drum before are amazed on how hard they can pull and many of our customers really do like how they taste. We also have all custom tackle especially for chunking trophy size stripers and big Black Drum on board the 55 Custom HOOKED UP II. For those family orientated groups my wife Captain Diana often joins us when we have charters with ladies and young children to lend a hand. We will soon have all our pricing and different types of trips both for inshore and offshore posted on our web page for the upcoming 2009 season fishing out of Cape May, NJ and in the mean time we can send anyone an e-mail with all of this information.
We offer some unique trips each spring that very few charter operations offer. One of the more popular ones is the all night 8-10 hour trip where we fish during the middle of the night that allows us to avoid the large crowds that are often found on the drum grounds especially on weekends and holidays. These trips have produced some awesome catches of both drum and occasionally some really nice stripers in past years. Below are a few other types of spring trips we offer every spring.
The 10 hour trips are for targeting Trophy Stripers 20-50 lbs when we have to run 25-30 miles up the Bay. Last spring the best striper bite was up the bay where the warmer water was and the large bunker schools were concentrated. Every spring it is different and we will have to wait and see what this coming spring brings. Possibly the larger Stripers will be much closer to Cape May this coming spring and can be caught on fresh surf clams but we will have to wait and see what mother nature has in up her sleeve.
Small Party & Single Make-Up Trips for up to 6 anglers there be will no overcrowding when fishing on the 55 HOOKED UP II with its very large cockpit. All bait and custom rods and reels supplied. Contact us when we get closer to the start of the spring season for dates and prices.
