I know I have asked this before. Has anyone caught spanish in the mid bay area? How far north have you heard they are catching them? I have the smoker ready to go. Smoked spanish in a cream cheeze spread is driving me nuts just thinking about it....
I was hoping for the ches beach area to catch on for spanish. Am I a few weeks to soon? Does it look like they will move north this year? How is the bite for spanish in the area you fish?
They were catching them around parkers creek for a while but then we had all that raind back in July and that ended. There have been some huge red drum caught off of PLO so I'm sure the water is suitable for spanish.
I've heard of a few spanish caught up past chesapeake beach but thats just second hand reports. I have caught a few by hoopers while jigging but the big numbers of spanish are holding between smith point and richland point last I heard. I normally dont stay on the troll long before I switch to jigging. I targeted them for two hours early in the week last week and trolled up 11. If you want to hop a ride out of solomons with me and target some spanish let me know. I'm taking two groups of friends out this week but the week after your more than welcome to join me if you want.
Flat there just getting here. I know you like running out of C.B. there over by Popular Island also I usually have great luck with them between the Silver Ball and Parkers Creek. Catch them up
Flat, a few more where caught over the weekend with some nice blues. I would say 2 weeks and they will be here good. A friend of mine had 22 yesterday outside of kedges with about 60 blues.
thanks everyone for your reports. You guys rock!! KLC that is great news. Last year the Spanish were in the smoker and grilled by recommendations from Josh. They were fantastic. The wife said I better bring some home again this year. We had a nice 30" last year and I hope to limit out a few trips this year. Thank again tight lines. I have a sealer system and will put some away for the colder months, to smoke.... I am marking down the 3rd of sept......
