    Silversides Suck!

I hit the mother load of silversides today with the 8' 3/8" mesh net and remembered why I quit throwing that mesh size. There must have been one in every hole of the net. I spent fifteen minutes trying to get the bastards cleaned out and finally said Fluff it and threw the net in the cooler till I can decide if it is worth getting them all out or just throw the damn net away. NO JOKE- There are no less than 1,000 of them caught by the gills! I don't care how hard you shake the net, they ain't coming out without picking thier heads off or pulling them through. What a PITA! They suck for bait except maybe for Bluefish and an occasional Flounder. I looked like I was covered in glitter from getting the first couple hundred out....HMMM....Calusa does offer net refurbishing. Should I send it to them with the fish in it and request a tune up on the net? Maybe I'll make a minnow omlet? The funniest part about the whole deal was that my dog won't even eat them. She climbed up on the bow because they were everywhere. I gotta sew up the rips in the 12' x 5/8" mesh tonight. I can't handle these sort of troubles....

I feel for you, I get happy when 5-10 pilchards get stuck, but I can at least catch something good with em once they are out.
