Shooting Blanks
Run my boat out of Manasquan and have fished the local lumps and reefs and all I am getting are 17 something inch shorts. Went scuba diving this past week to see if there was any life down there. Dive lasted 30 minutes as the temperature on the bottom was 56 degrees and I was freeezing. I really don't blame the fluke for not biting at those temperatures. Any advice as to action would be appreciated. I am obviously not looking for specific spots, but if anyone has heard of substantive positive reports either north or south of Squan it would be appreciated. I have my spots in these areas but I burn about $60 an hour in diesel and am hesitant to make long runs if there is not much happening elsewhere. Thanks. |

i fished the southern end of the axel carlson the other day and ended up with 5 keepers in a few hours. We just jigged in the rough stuff the biggest was about 4 lbs along with a few nice sea bass and ling.
