Block Island to Cape Hatteras
The sea surface temperature along the coastline of Cape Cod Bay, Buzzard Bay, and Vineyard Sound is currently between 74 and 76°F. There is a larger range of cooler sea surface temperatures along the coast of Block Island that are currently between 70 and 75°F. The sea surface temperature the mouth of Long Island Sound as well as the coast of New Jersey increases back to 78 to 81°F. The coastline of Delaware and North Carolina is currently between 74-76°F, but directly off coast the sea surface temperature increases again to 82°F. There is a sea surface low in the coast of Long Island Sound that is currently 25 cm below sea level. There is a sea surface high in the mouth of both the Delaware and the Chesapeake Bay that is currently 25 to 30 cm above sea level. The remaining coastline is flat except for a sea surface high off of the coast of Pamlico Sound that is currently 30 cm above sea level. East of North Carolina there is a field of eddies that are either sea surface highs greater than 20 cm above sea level or sea surface lows that are about 20 cm below sea level. These eddies seem to be stagnant in the water column, but may be making their way up the coast towards New Jersey.
