Sea Surface Report Hatteras to Florida 8-4
The sea surface temperature along the coastline of Cape Cod Bay is currently between 66 and 72°F. The sea surface temperature along Buzzard Bay, Vineyard Sound, and Long Island increases a few degrees to about 74 to 77°F, while the temperature along Block Island and the mouth of the Hudson River Canyon is 69 to 72°F. The sea surface temperature directly along the coast from New Jersey to North Carolina is 74°F. As you move east off coast the sea surface temperature gradually increases to first 77°F, then 81°F, and then 85°F once you hit the Gulf Stream. There is a oscillating warm water eddies located at 39°N and 71.5°W. This eddy is carrying water between 79-82°F. There is a low water system off of the coast of Cape Cod that is currently 15 cm below sea level. There is a second low water system off of the coast of New Jersey that is currently 10 cm below sea level. The remaining coastline is relatively flat except for a low water system off of the coast of North Carolina that is currently 30 cm below sea level. There is a chain of high water making its way towards the coast of Rhode Island that is currently 30 cm above sea level. To the east of this high water system is a low water system that is 30 cm below sea level with a 30.
